In Matthew 16:13-19, Jesus asks Peter who he thinks He (Jesus) is. When Peter reveals that He is the messiah, Jesus responds that "flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.......upon this rock (foundational truth) I will build My church; and the gates of Hell shall not overpower it."
Then He said, "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."
Nugget of Gold: The revelation of Jesus in a particular area produces a foundational truth in our lives that the powers of darkness cannot overcome. (John 1:5 - "And the light shines in the darkness and the darkness did not overpower it.")
This releases a key of the kingdom in that area and the authority to use it!
